Welcome to the village of Pano Arodes (Πάνω Αρόδες)

The village of Pano Arodes dates from the Mycean era and is steeped in history. It is situated in the north-western tip of the island of Cyprus, on the edge of the Akamas nature reserve, on the Laona plateau approx. 600m above the sea. Everyone you meet in Cyprus, from one end of the island to the other, has heard of this little village and its wonderful breezes that keep you cool on hot summer nights.

Its sister village, Kato Arodes, was mainly Turkish Cypriot until the troubles of the 60s and 70s and was largely abandoned after the Turkish invasion of 1974, but is now slowly beginning to be inhabited again.

The impressive Avakas Gorge is accessed from outside the village.
